Song of the Day: "Dans Ma Rue"

I always spend my weekend with loads of DVDs.

Last weekend I drowned my mind in "La Vie en Rose", a 2007 movie starred by Marion Cotillard.

The movie was made based on real-life story of Edith Piaf, a diva in classic French era. 

My ears feel like missing Piaf's voice, then I went to YouTube to search for her songs.

But then, I've found this.

A video of a French singer named Zaz.

At first I thought Zaz is the name of the band, since she performs with two guys.

But Zaz is Isabelle Geffroy, a French lady who plays jazz and chanson tracks.

I was so in love with her voice at very first time I heard her.

Her voice is completely sexy and I just can't stop to listen to it over and over again.

Song of the Day: Shape of My Heart - Rise and Fall (Mashed Up)

I love mashed up songs.

It feels like listening to cover version songs, but still sang by its own singer.

Today I found a mashed up song that catches my ear from the moment I listen to it.

This is the fuse of "Shape" by Sugababes and "Rise and Fall" by Craig David.

Both songs took the inspiration from Sting's 1993 hits, "Shape of My Heart".

You can find the common from the guitar part of the song.

Sting's voice also heard from both songs.

Anyway, don't ask me how many times I play this song today.

I've got addicted to it.

The Adams - Konservatif

 This is the song that i can't stop listening to for the whole day. It reminds me of something. Not Janji Joni, but something better, something that i can't take off of my memory.

Song of The Day: November 2, 2010

Minggu lalu gw download albumnya Frau - "Starlit Carousel" dari Yes No Wave Music.

Pertama kali gw tau Frau dari Kick Andy yang membahas musisi-musisi indie. Di situ, Frau juga sempat memainkan hitsnya, "Mesin Penenun Hujan". Itu pertama kali gw liat perform dia dan langsung jatuh hati.

Leilani Hermiasih, mahasiswi antropologi UGM ini dikenal dengan nama Frau di panggung. Di semua lagunya, kita hanya akan dengar suara vokal dan dentingan piano. Ya, Frau memang pianis. Juga vokalis terbaik yang pernah gw dengar.

Mungkin ini lebay kali ya, tapi ini beneran, suara dia terdengar sangat jernih dari HP Nexian dan laptop Advan gw. Biasanya, kedua gadget kesayangan gw ini bobrok banget kalo soal sound. tapi begitu nyetel lagu-lagunya Frau, bener-bener jernih.

Sejak gw download album ini, music player gw cuma bolak-balik muter lagu-lagu Frau. Apalagi waktu lagi ngerjain proposal skripsi. Dari enam lagu di album debutnya ini, ada satu lagu yang paling gw suka.

Sepasang Kekasih yang Pertama Bercinta

Dalam lagu ini, Frau berduet dengan Ugoran Prasad, vokalis band Melancholic Bitch. Kalo nggak salah, lagu ini memang lagunya Melancholic Bitch. Pas gw denger versi aslinya, rasanya lebih relaxing yang versi Frau.

Walaupun di lagu ini terdengar jelas vokal yang kejar-kejaran antara Frau dan Ugoran, tapi aransemen yang smooth tapi tegas serta lirik yang "nendang" menjadi andalan di lagu ini.

Ya, gw suka banget sama liriknya.

The Trees and The Wild - Our Roots

Video ini direkam waktu TTATW lagi perform di Superbad Scandal di Jaya Pub. Kudos buat Dimas Wisnuwardhono yang sudah membawa era HDSLR video di dunia indo-indie gigs.

Salam manis juga buat cewek-cewek yg teriak, "Ya Allah... Igaaaa!" You guys inspired me to adore Iga in a better way.

Our Roots merupakan lagu yang jadi favorit gw dari lagu-lagu TTATW lainnya. Petikan gitar bernuansa pinggir jalan Jogja di malam hari membuat lagu ini sangat relaxing. Suara vokal yang smooth bikin serasa lagi di tempat hajatan. Maaf, prasmanannya sebelah mana?

FYI, ini satu-satunya lagu TTATW yang masuk music player di hp gw. Salah satu lagu paling unik yang pernah gw denger.
